Financial boost
A message from SPF

The TNO Social Pension Fund (SPF) is there for you, especially in difficult times.
Energy costs are increasing and you are probably concerned about whether you can still pay your bills. SPF can help in various ways: you can obtain an interest-free loan from us, we can contribute towards your holiday, and you can use a budget coach for free. If you need help, send an e-mail to spf@tno.nl.
Within TNO there’s also an initiative to make homes greener. In this context, SPF is planning to make sets of secondary glazing available. The secondary glazing is suitable for single glazed windows and for simple double glazed windows (not high performance glass). Send us an e-mail (spf@tno.nl) and let us know if you’re interested in such a set of secondary glazing.
If you’re not yet a member, you can join our fund for just € 0.50 per month. By doing so, you’ll not only help yourself but also your current and former colleagues. You can also send us an e-mail about this.
Regards from SPF.

More information Contact Ginie Roerdink, secretary of the SPF, by e-mail: spf@tno.nl.

eTNOs right to be heard
A message from eTNOs

The Future Pension Act and pension beneficiaries
Post-employment income is one of the terms of employment agreed between an employer and employee. Both contribute part of the salary into a fund. The employer, employee, and fund board agree that this money should be managed, and that the employee and their partner should receive this money on retirement. The level of the pension is currently determined by the number of years in service and the average salary earned over those years. The pension can also be increased annually to retain purchasing power if the fund has enough cash.
What will change with the Future Pension Act?
Quite a lot will change with the arrival of the new system (the Future Pension Act, also known as WTP). Each member will soon be able to see what amount is available for their pension. Depending on the selected pension scheme, ‘joint’ or ‘flexible’, the member may be able to exert influence on the risk that the fund takes in managing that amount. The level of the pension will depend on the selected or imposed risk profile and on financial market developments. Unless... a decision is made not to convert the fund assets into one of the two new schemes.
The association of pension beneficiaries’ right to be heard Once the act takes effect, what will the transition be? According to the act, the social partners, these being the Board and the Works council, are responsible for developing a transition plan. Pension beneficiaries are not involved in this, but do have an interest! That’s why the legislator has awarded associations of pension beneficiaries the right to be heard. At TNO this is the eTNOs. This means that the employer must give the pension beneficiaries the opportunity to give an opinion on the transition plan at such a time that their opinion can influence the content of the plan and the choices made within it.
eTNOs are making preparations The eTNOs Pension Working Group has received the assignment from the eTNOs Board to exercise this right to be heard on behalf of the members. Aad Bogers, Pieter Jan Brandenburg, Raymond Creusen, Peter de Haan*, Jan Jore, Jaap Koole*, Ton van Strien (acting chair), Tony van Vliet and Koen Wapenaar* are members of the Working Group. [* Also member of the Accountability Council at TNO Pension Fund]
This Pensions Working Group is the base for the three pension beneficiary members of the Accountability Council and liaises annually with the two pension beneficiary members of the TNO Pension Fund Board: Nadia Harize and Rien Paulus, and with the Director of the Administrative office: Kostijn van Gerven. The Administrative office already held two workshops with the Pensions Working Group on the Future Pensions Act last year. More will follow this year. The working group members closely follow developments on the new system by attending (online) webinars and seminars and monitoring literature (Pensioners Association, Pension Federation, PensionPro etc.).
At the initiative of the eTNOs board, the East and West regions have now invited the Pensions Working Group to a discussion morning on the new act together with eTNOs members. During the discussion morning, the eTNOs working group will explain the current status, after which concerns and expectations about the upcoming major system change will be shared. The working group will also issue reports about the Future Pension Act developments in the coming editions of eTNOs Notices.
Exercising the right to be heard The Pension Working Group has now reported in writing to the TNO social partners that it would like to exercise the right to be heard as prescribed in the new act. It is expected that the social partners will respond positively to this. We have also asked the Administrative office to include the right to be heard as a separate item when planning the entire transition process. This will ensure that the right to be heard will receive the legally prescribed attention at the right time.
