Transition to new pension system to the next phase

A message from eTNOs
eTNOs received the draft transition plan from the social partners (Works Council and employer TNO) in November. This plan describes how the social partners will shape the new pension system and the transition to the new pension system. In early January, eTNOs issued its opinion on this plan, supported by a sounding board group of eTNOs members and experts from the Pensioners' Umbrella Organisation. In its opinion, eTNOs expressed reasoned concerns about what it sees as disproportionate disadvantages for pensioners and suggested changes. In their response, the social partners did not appear to share our concerns and ignored our suggestions without additional arguments. The entire transition plan, including eTNOs’s assessment and the social partners' response to it, can be found on the TNO Pension Fund website.
The Minister for Social Affairs and Employment has since noted that social partners regularly fail to fully respect the right to be heard and has therefore called on pension funds to continue to involve pensioners' associations in translating the transition plan (of social partners) into the implementation plan (of the fund).
We have since reported to the fund board, citing this advice from the Minister, and will discuss with the board how eTNOs can continue to play a role in the follow-up process. A key concern for eTNOs remains the balance between the generations and within the group of pension beneficiaries in the choices made.
