Changes in the accrual of extra pension

TNO Pension Fund offers you an option to accrue extra pension. The Extra pension scheme and the Net pension scheme are for this purpose. These schemes are run by Goldman Sachs (formerly NN IP). However, Goldman Sachs will stop these supplementary pension schemes from 1 July 2026. We explain what you can do if you want to supplement your pension.

Situation 1

You do not yet participate in the Extra or Net pension scheme

Unfortunately, it is no longer possible to participate in these supplementary pension schemes. However, there are other options to supplement your pension, such as bank savings or an annuity. Read more about this on the site under how to build up your pension (Dutch).

Situation 2

You already participate in the Extra or Net pension scheme

You can continue to make contributions until 1 July 2026. You can also increase your monthly contribution for your Extra or Net pension scheme. After 1 July 2026, you can no longer invest, because these Extra and Net pension schemes will be closed. The accrued capital will probably be transferred to your new pension scheme. TNO and the TNO works council will decide on this. Once a decision has been made, participants will be informed.

Looking ahead: can you save extra in the new pension scheme?

The current TOP scheme (for those who participated in the period 1996 to 2006) and the Extra/Net Pension Scheme will cease to exist in the new pension scheme. We expect that an option to save additional pension will probably be introduced. This is currently being examined. However, you can obviously always arrange a supplement to your pension yourself through bank savings or taking out an annuity, for example.

Will you be 59 or older on 1 July 2026?

If you intend to use the TOP around 1 July 2026, you should consider moving this date forward slightly. Although the supplementary pension schemes are expected to be included in the new pension contract, they won’t be as flexible. For this reason, you might benefit from bringing your TOP forward slightly. Read the news (Dutch) item on the site for more information.
